Festival of Sails – Athens – Greece

Another Festival of Sails is over. We had great fun in Athens for the whole week from October 7-14. Six yachts participated in the Festival: 4 Israeli, 1 Turkish and 1 Greek. We had big yachts like Ocean Star 56.1 and smaller ones like Elan 350. The crew was also very international as there were participants  from Spain, England, Germany and Croatia. Joan Basacoma, the Honorary President of ISSA was also present. During the week we visited Poros, Hidra, Dokos, Ermayoni and Egina. We organized small regattas with winners only. Everyone could enjoy a winner’s trophy, and there are a lot of wonderful candidates for trophies available in Greece: exquisite olive oil and wine just to name some of them. We also did a photographic contest and on the last day, in the evening there was a cooking competition. The last evening was a truly grand finale. Everyone, including the children had a lot of fun both cooking and then eating one huge dinner with everyone. Music, singing and dancing was obviously always present. This was a wonderful Festival of Sails. See you next year.
